Going back to school during a pandemic.
Updated: Aug 18, 2020
This year going back to school is different then previous years because of the Covid19 pandemic. All Parents (myself) included and students are anxious and stressed. As parents we are all trying to make the right and safest decision for our families. In my province it was announced that children would be going back to school full time in September. I have friends that don’t feel comfortable with sending their children to school and will opt out to home-school. Then there are those other friends that have to go back to work and need to send their kids to school. While other parents trust the guidelines and policies put in place by the government and feel that it is safe enough to send their kids to school. There is no right and wrong decision here, each parent should do what they feel is best for their children. We all have the same goal here and that goal is to keep our children safe. However no matter the decision, it is a stressful time for parents and students.
I know going back to school is stressful as is and this year it is heightened because of the pandemic. However we have to remain calm, follow the policies and protocols put in place by the government to help us beat this pandemic. Make sure to educate yourself on ways to keep yourself and your family safe. Have a conversation with your children on how they can protect themselves and make sure to answer any questions and concerns they may have. Establish a routine for your family to alleviate some of the stress, most importantly practice self care as a parent and take deep breaths whenever you feel anxious. I am praying that everyone remains safe and remember we are all in on this together. Do you think it is a good idea for kids to go back to school why or why not?Let me know your thoughts on this.
